CAIRO – 22 November 2017: AC Milan faces the risk of being excluded from playing European competitions next season due to the serious doubts that UEFA has about the Italian club`s financial fair play, according to the Spanish newspaper Marca.
The European federation is suspicious of the heavy disbursement made by Milan last summer after the sale of Silvio Berlusconi's club to a Chinese investment group.
More than €200 million ($235 million) was spent by Milan to strengthen their squad. This season, Milan does not play in the European Champions League, and in the next campaigns, it may not due to disciplinary reasons.
An AC Milan delegation headed by Marco Fassone went to the UEFA headquarters to explain the project, but apparently the organizers were not convinced that the club could meet the financial fair play.
Last summer, Milan signed Leonardo Bonucci, Andre Silva, Calhanoglu, Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez and Nikola Kalinic. This investment is hardly justifiable according to the income.
As if that were not enough, the disbursement has not served, for the moment, to recover a winning line, as the team of Vincenzo Montella is seventh in the Serie A, 16 points behind the leader, Napoli.
In addition, following information from The New York Times, there are doubts that the new owner of the club, Chinese investor Yonghong Li, has as much economic power as was said and that he does not have a business empire in his country.
